A gunman tried to break into the Russian Defense Ministry

A man armed with a gun tried to enter this Friday in the main building of the Russian Ministry of Defense in the center of Moscow and was arrested by security agents, reported the agency TASS.

“The man, in an out-of-control state and with a gun, tried to gain access to the Ministry of Defense building,” says the outlet, citing a source from the security services.

The source added that the intruder was “gesticulating and shouting something”.

“The incident took place at the checkpoint near the main building of the Ministry of Defense on the Frunzenskaya embankment. An unsuitable man with a gun tried to enter the territory of the ministry. At the same time, he was shouting loudly and waving his hands. The offender was quickly detained and could not explain the reason for the act,” the TASS agency said.

The security agents seized the weapon of the citizen, identified by some media as Dmitri, a native of the city of yaroslavl 40 years old, and was sent to a medical center for a psychiatric examination. The incident caused no casualties.

The weapon was sent in for examination. Preliminary reports indicate that it was an air pistol.

Recently, the Russian Defense Ministry was the scene of another incident when the building caught fire. The cause was officially “grid emergency mode”.
