An American nuclear-powered submarine arrived at South Korea for a scheduled visit, the Navy announced USAafter the tensions registered last week with the regime of North Korea.
He USS SpringfieldThe 6,000-ton Los Angeles-class is part of a series of US Army nuclear attack submarines and docked on the 23rd at the naval base in the South Korean port city of Busan, as reported this weekend by the US Seventh Fleet on its social networks.
this submarine is normally deployed in Guam and routinely operates conducting maritime security operations and “supporting national security interests,” according to Washington.
The US Seventh Pacific Fleet released photos of the ship with the South Korean flag flying next to the American one, as well as the South Korean Navy welcoming the ship.

The submarine’s visit to the South could be intended to serve as a warning to North Korea, after Pyongyang fired three missiles a few days ago, one of them intercontinental, and threatened to give an “unprecedented” response to a large maneuvers that Seoul and Washington are scheduled to carry out in March.
North Korea also launched on February 20, two days after firing an intercontinental missile, two short-range shells to the Sea of Japan in apparent response to the aerial maneuvers carried out by Seoul and Washington the day before.
These launches came a day after South Korea and the United States conducted aerial exercises involving two US B-1 strategic bombers.
This joint action took place in response to North Korea’s launch on Saturday of a Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the second with the longest potential range in its arsenal, which traveled more than 900 kilometers before hitting waters of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Japan.

Given this, the European Union (EU) “strongly” condemned the movements that it described as “illegal” and “reckless” by North Korea.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, urged the international community to “respond in a united and firm manner before North Korea’s actions further undermine the international non-proliferation architecture and escalate military tensions in the region.”
Insisted that Pyongyang “immediately” comply with UN Security Council resolutions and abandon all its existing nuclear weapons, other weapons of mass destruction, ballistic missile programs, and nuclear programs, “in a complete, verifiable, and irreversible manner,” and cease all related activities.
“The EU urges all United Nations member states to join it in calling on North Korea to immediately cease all missile launches and resume dialogue with relevant parties,” it added.
The peninsula is experiencing a historic level of tension after 2022 in which Pyonyang carried out a record number of weapons tests (around fifty) and in which the allies once again carried out large maneuvers and temporarily deployed US strategic assets in the southern Korean peninsula.
