The attack suffered by the site was a DDoS -distributed denial-of-service attack-, according to the spokesman for the legislature, james duch. “The site is currently affected from the outside due to high levels of traffic from the outside network,” she commented.

This type of virtual aggression is based on sending a large number of applications to a certain page, which means that the server cannot respond to all of them and, therefore, it looks collapsed. It is there when all the users who want to browse the site -without being able to distinguish the false ones from the real ones- cannot do so and, failing that, they see a legend that reports an error.

By its nature, DDoS they do not damage the networks because they do not penetrate them and therefore, The information contained in the servers is not usually in danger. However, they do tend to be a great annoyancesince they make it impossible for people who need to access information to navigate normally.

Metsola understood this episode as Putin’s response to the recent resolution of the bloc, which is why he wrote on his profile: “My answer: Glory to Ukraine”.

The pro-Kremlin group behind this attack could be the same one that, months before, had caused a crash on the websites of multiple airports in the United States. On that occasion, it was also about DDoS attacks adjudicated by citizens of Moscow.

To this resolution was added a claim to the European Union for new legal framework that allows these States to be classified and restricts the relations of the community bloc with said countries.

According to current laws, the measure -approved by 494 votes in favor, 58 against and 44 abstentions- has no legal valuethough yes big symbolic load. That is why the bloc urged the EU to “start a complete international isolation of the Russian Federation.”

To this end, they asked to act “in regard to the Russian membership in organizations and international organizations, such as the United Nations Security Council”, avoid holding official acts in their territory, continue to reduce diplomatic relations with Russia and that contacts be limited to the “strictly necessary minimum”.

Meanwhile, they clarified that the only thing negotiable is the payment of war reparations by Putin.
