Concerts, dance, popular traditions and much more from April 8 to 24, in various spaces
With the aim of rescuing and keeping alive the traditions that have given identity to San Luis Potosi and within the framework of one of the most emblematic and important celebrations in Mexico and that was declared as part of the cultural heritage of the state, such as the Procession of Silence during Holy Week, the Secretary of Culture of San Luis Potosí will develop a series of activities that will take place in the public squares of the city, temples, churches, museums, communities, and a children’s home, where the talent of artists will be combined with programs typical of this celebration.
These activities were presented at the Germán Gedovius Gallery of the Peace Theater by artists and groups that will be in charge of each of these events. The Vuela Alto Choir, an ensemble of voices from Potosí created in 2013 that has specialized in the production and interpretation of a cappella music repertoires (without using musical instruments), will be presented on April 8 at 7:00 p.m., in the Temple from San Francisco; on April 11, at 7:00 p.m., in the Temple of the Shrine of Guadalupe; and on April 22 at 12:00 p.m., in the Carmen Temple.
The Azanza Puppets will be presented at the Home of St. Vincent de Paul of Soledad de Graciano Sánchez, on Saturday, April 9 at 12:00 p.m. Jueguito Musical will be on the Esplanade of the San Martín de Porres Parish on Sunday 10 at 1:00 p.m., as well as on Thursday 14 at 7:00 p.m., on the steps of the Teatro de la Paz; on the esplanade of the Federico Silva Museum on Saturday 16 at 6:00 p.m.; in the community of Cándido Navarro on Sunday, April 17 at 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 24 in the community of Enrique Estrada at 5:00 p.m.
The Camerata de San Luis and the Choir of the State School of Initiation Musical Julian Carrillo, will be presented on April 11 at 5:00 p.m., at the Templo de Soledad; on April 12 at 7:00 p.m., in the Temple of San Juan de Dios; and, on April 13 at 7:00 p.m., in the Metropolitan Cathedral.
The Núcleo-danza Escénica Company, a project open to trends, techniques, styles and choreographic methods that will allow the search for an original language, will be presented on April 13 at 6:00 p.m., in the Pavón de Soledad neighborhood square of Graciano Sanchez; on April 14 at 7:00 p.m., on the steps of the Teatro de la Paz; and on April 16 at 6:00 p.m., at the Bardas Forum of the Center for the Arts of San Luis Potosí.
The 21st Meeting of Aztec Dances will take place on Saturday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m., on the esplanade of the National Mask Museum. While on Saturday, April 16 at 8:00 p.m., the traditional burning of Judas will take place in the Plaza del Carmen.
On Sunday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m., Dr. Chessani y sus Huapangueros de Rioverde will lead the 25th Festival de Son, on the steps of the Teatro de la Paz. This festival aims to preserve the tradition of Mexican music with social themes, freedom of expression, love, dreams and the hope of building other possible worlds that are interpreted from the identity and tradition that surrounds the son.
On Tuesday, April 19, Chino González will perform with the State Government Music Band on the steps of the Teatro de la Paz at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, April 23, in the afternoon, the Danzón Contest will be held on the steps of the Teatro de la Paz, and the following day at 6:00 p.m., the prize-giving ceremony for the Altars of Dolores contests will take place. Cuaresmeña Food, Danzón and the Elaboration and Burning of Judas.
All these cultural activities are important for the Secretary of Culture of San Luis Potosí, since their preservation, development and promotion are essential for a complete integral development, with social peace.
