The semifinals of Mexican soccer are already defined and are about to begin. The four best teams in the quarterfinals are already warming up to start the dispute in the prelude to the final and thus be closer to the contention for the title of the new monarch in Aztec football.

Pumas, Atlas, León and Tigres They are the teams that managed to continue on the road to the title and will clash in the semifinals to get their pass to the final of the Mexican tournament.

Despite each of the teams outscoring their respective rivals in the quarterfinals, the new series appear to be very close to each other. Nevertheless, Tigres has acquired the label of “favorite” after América and Monterrey, who were the favorites for the title, will be eliminated in the quarterfinals at the hands of Pumas and Atlas.

The reason for the preference for the Monterrey team over the other three is due to the squad they maintain. In addition, the historical factor against León puts him as a favorite and Pumas are also backed by the numbers against the Guadalajara.

Atlas vs Pumas

It seems that the whole of the Pumas bears the insignia of being the “black horse” of the competition. After having come back and take the series from Classic Capitalino, the painting directed by Andres Lillini he is preparing to face the semifinals with an important mental impulse after eliminating América and because history dictates that his confrontations against the rojinegros are in his favor.

Atlas faces a semifinal again after 17 years of waitingHowever, on the last occasion they also faced the Pumas. On that occasion, the Pedregal team took the victory and ended up as Mexican soccer champion by defeating Guadalajara via penalties.

Curiously, on that occasion, the university students entered the Liguilla after passing the repechage phase, as they finished in number 10 in the general classification.

The people of Guadalajara and the UNAM have faced each other twice during the short national soccer tournaments. The first of them took place in the 2004 Clausura, in the quarterfinals.
