The American President, Joe Bidenannounced this Thursday that it will impose Sanctions on individuals found to have engaged or attempted to engage in actions that threaten the peace, security or stability of Sudan.
Biden issued an executive order in which he announces that people who undermine the functioning of “a transitional civil government” or “a future democratically elected government” will also be sanctioned, as well as those who carry out censorship, corruption and violations against human rights.
Also those who carry out attacks against women, children or any other civilian; obstruct the activities of the missions of the United Nations or carry out attacks against United Nations missions.
“I believe that the situation in Sudan, including the military takeover in October 2021 and the outbreak of fighting in April 2023, constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.” Biden stated.
The president added that the policy of the United States is “to support a transition to democracy and a civilian transitional government in Sudan.”” and defend said interim Executive “from those who would prevent its initial formation through violence and other methods.”
“The United States, in cooperation with like-minded partners, will help such a transitional government, when it is formed, meet the needs of the Sudanese people and prepare for democratic elections,” he added.

From the first moments of this conflict, the Biden statement added, the United States facilitated the departure of thousands of people (Americans and others) by land, sea, and air and has carried out intense negotiations to reduce violence.
“Our diplomatic efforts to urge all parties to end the military conflict and allow unimpeded humanitarian access continue.as are our efforts to help the remaining Americans, including by providing them with information on exit options,” he says.
As a consequence of these sanctions, all goods and assets that are in the United States and belong to the possible sanctioned persons will be blocked and cannot be transferred, paid for, exported, withdrawn or negotiated.
Clashes between rival factions began on April 15 and have killed some 700 people, mostly in Khartoum and Darfur, according to the NGO Conflict Location and Event Data Project.
The chaos led to a large-scale evacuation of foreign citizens carried out by the armies of several countries.
Biden said that the bloodshed, “which has already claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians and started during the holy month of Ramadan, is inconceivable”.
