Britney Spears launches against her father and assures that Jamie Spears stripped her of her femininity during the guardianship of almost 14 years
Britney Spears says that her estranged father, Jaime Spears, “bareed” her femininity when he established a conservatorship in 2008 to control her personal, medical and financial affairs.
“The first day my dad became a tutor I will never forget!” the superstar, 40, wrote in a lengthy Instagram post on Monday that has since been deleted. “He said sit in that chair… let’s have a talk…”
The pop star continued: “He said, ‘I’m Britney Spears and from now on I’m going to call the shots’ and from that day on I felt like a big part of my femininity was stripped away… I was never the same.”
Britney’s comment about Jaime trying to assume his identity matches a claim made in a controversial report by Ronan Farrow for The New Yorker in July 2021.
Former family friend Jacqueline Butcher claimed that 69-year-old Jamie Spears called her famous daughter “fat,” “slut,” “terrible mother,” and often allegedly yelled, “I’m Britney Spears!” in the early stages of the restrictive legal settlement against the pop singer.
Britney’s conservatorship was finally dissolved in November 2021, delighting the singer, her attorney Mathew S. Rosengart, and her legions of #FreeBritney fans.
Singer Britney Spears mentioned that sometimes “[extraña] the deep anguish of living in secret” during her guardianship because she was “so alive”.
