One of the most iconic elements of the franchise finally went from fiction to real life, because during the SXSW festival, Disney presented the first real lightsaber to the audience, who reacted in amazement and even incredulous by the artifact.
Josh D’Amaro, president of Disney Parks and Experiences, was in charge of taking the stage and presenting the lightsaber to all Star Wars fans. As can be heard in different videos broadcast on social networks, the audience reacted in amazement to the demonstration on stage.
As in the movies, from the hilt you can see how the saber lights up in blue, in addition to making the famous noise that everyone already associates with the franchise.
“I have the coolest job in the world. I’m holding a real lightsaber,” D’Amaro said onstage as he held the artifact in his hands.
It is not the first time that Disney presents a retractable lightsaber, because in its amusement parks you can see how the actors who imitate the films and series of the Star Wars universe also carry this type of weapon, however, this presents different enhancements that stand out on stage.
As expected, the demonstration of the real lightsaber aroused the interest of many of the attendees and Internet users who watched the presentation from home, but it seems that at the moment Disney has no intention of putting it up for sale on the market.
