Lula, 77, won the first round of the elections on October 2 with 48.4% of the vote, compared to 43.2% obtained by Bolsonaro, who aspires to a new four-year term. Since neither obtained more than 50%, both will meet on Sunday in a second round for which the former president is the favorite.

In the first round, of the 156.5 million Brazilians eligible to vote, some 32.7 million (20.9%) did not appear at the voting booths and the trend is for that number to increase in the ballotage.

during the campaign Bolsonaro questioned -without evidence- the electronic voting system, which raised fears that he will not accept an eventual defeat and unrest such as the invasion of the Capitol in the United States will occur. “Sunday is a great day for Brazil and for the world”, Trump said on Friday.

In September, the former Republican president already endorsed Bolsonaro, “the ‘Tropical Trump’ as it is affectionately called. “He has done a GREAT job for the wonderful people of Brazil,” she said then.
