The legal team of the Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein requested a new trial with new juries, after he was found guilty of charges of rape and sexual assault in December 2022.

In 2022, Weinstein was found guilty of rape, forced oral copulation, and another count of sexual misconduct in relation to a woman.
The former Hollywood titan was tried for seven charges which were based on accusations of four women whose sexual abuse occurred between 2005 and 2013, all allegedly in Los Angeles hotel rooms.

Weinstein’s conviction in New York marked a great triumph for the #MeToo movement in her feminist fight against sexual abuse and assault.
“It’s time for the defendant’s reign of terror to come to an end”, declared at the time the assistant district attorney, Marlene Martinez, during its closing arguments. “It’s time to bring him to justice,” he added.
“Harvey Weinstein forever destroyed a part of me that night in 2013. I will never get my back. The criminal trial was brutal. Weinstein’s lawyers put me through hell on the witness stand. More than 100 women have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct since 2017at which time the #MeToo movement broke out, when countless actresses, models and women from the world of cinema denounced the producer.
