Chaab is the latest person to be sentenced to death after being found guilty of belonging to Harakat al-Nidal, which Tehran describes as a “terrorist group”. Last week, a court in Ahvaz sentenced six men to death for attacks who had “carried out the orders of their European leaders”. They were found guilty of “armed operations” between 2017 and 2019 in which four people were killed, including a soldier and two members of the Iranian Basij paramilitary force.
