The Justice of iranian regime hanged this sunday to four people sentenced to death for collaborating with the MossadIsrael’s intelligence service, one of Iran’s main enemies.
In a trial that was not public and whose evidence was not disclosedthe Supreme Court considered that the four defendants, Hosein Ordukhanzadeh, Shahin Imani Mahmudabad, Milad Ashrafi and Manuchehr Shahbandi Bejandiwere part of “a network that under the direction of the intelligence officers of the Zionist regime (Israel), carried out armed kidnappings” and received payment for their work in “digital currencies”, the Iranian Judiciary news agency reported, Mizan.
“These people committed robberies, destruction of personal and public property, kidnappings and extortion of false confessions,” the Revolutionary Guard said in a statement on Wednesday.
Its members were arrested with the cooperation of the Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Ministry of Intelligenceexplained the aforementioned medium.
According to statistics managed by the human rights organization Amnesty International, Iran is, with more than 400 hangings a year, one of the five countries in the world that executes the most capital punishment, along with China and Saudi Arabia.
The executions take place at a time of great tension in Iran, after more than two months of protests triggered by the death in prison of Mahsa Amini. Thousands of people have been detained, including some 40 foreigners.
Iran accuses the United States and its allies, including Britain, Israel and Kurdish groups based outside the country, of fomenting street violence that the government calls “riots.”
Iranian justice has already confirmed six death sentences for the protests, and the human rights group Amnesty International says that according to official reports, at least 21 people who are on trial are accused of crimes that could lead to hanging.
“These are grossly unfair trials that are intended to instill fear in the population,” he told the Washington Post Raha Bahraini, Iran Researcher at Amnesty Internationalin relation to the recent judicial processes in which protesters are involved.
“This is also a reflection of the increasing use of the death penalty by the Islamic Republic as a tool of political repression.to,” he added.
In an interview with Reuters on Tuesday, the UN special rapporteur on Iran, Javaid Rehman, expressed concern about the “campaign” of death sentences that has accompanied the crackdown.
Last month, Volker Türk, the UN high commissioner for human rights, also expressed alarm at the rising number of executions in Iran.
“Until September 2022, the total number of executions would have exceeded 400 in the year, for the first time in five years. This is a substantial increase from the 330 and 276 executions in 2021 and 2020, respectively,” he told a special session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on November 24.
