Israeli soldiers shot down a Palestinian terrorist who tried to ram them with his vehicle in the northern West Bank

A Palestinian was shot dead Tuesday by Israeli troops after attempting to ram a group of soldiers with a car at a military checkpoint in the north of West bankconfirmed the Army.

The aggressor was “Neutralized” by Israeli agents stationed at the checkpoint, who were unharmed from the attack.

According to the Army statement, “a terrorist accelerated his vehicle towards a military post. The soldiers at the post fired at the vehicle, which collided with a nearby military car and both vehicles caught fire ”.

The body of the attacker, whose identity has not yet been verified, was found inside one of the charred vehicles after the intervention of firefighters.

The attack occurred in the vicinity of the Mevo Dotan settlement, between the Palestinian cities of Nablus and Jenin, where in recent weeks there have been numerous violent incidents between Israelis and Palestinians.

Last Thursday, In the same area, Palestinian assailants opened fire on an Israeli vehicle in the illegal Homesh settlement near Nablus, where an Israeli settler, Yehuda Dimentman, 25, was killed and two others were injured.

Days later, four Palestinian suspects in that attack were arrested and according to the Israeli authorities they were members of the Islamic Jihad, who this week promised together with the Hamas group to intensify offensives against Israel’s targets.

There has recently been a spike in Palestinian attacks on Israelis, both in the West Bank and in occupied East Jerusalem, totaling more than a dozen in less than a month. although there is no common pattern between them and they respond to the individual initiative of Palestinians who do not necessarily militate in any group.

The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, has warned that increased violence in the West Bank between Israelis and Palestinians could spark another war in Gaza.
