A Palestinian was shot dead Tuesday by Israeli troops after attempting to ram a group of soldiers with a car at a military checkpoint in the north of West bankconfirmed the Army.

The body of the attacker, whose identity has not yet been verified, was found inside one of the charred vehicles after the intervention of firefighters.
The attack occurred in the vicinity of the Mevo Dotan settlement, between the Palestinian cities of Nablus and Jenin, where in recent weeks there have been numerous violent incidents between Israelis and Palestinians.

There has recently been a spike in Palestinian attacks on Israelis, both in the West Bank and in occupied East Jerusalem, totaling more than a dozen in less than a month. although there is no common pattern between them and they respond to the individual initiative of Palestinians who do not necessarily militate in any group.
The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, has warned that increased violence in the West Bank between Israelis and Palestinians could spark another war in Gaza.
