The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonarohe stated this Wednesday during a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putinthat his visit to Moscow is a “portrait” for the world that shows the growth that the two countries can have together.
“I am very happy and honored by this invitation and we are in solidarity with Russia and are very willing to collaborate in several areas: defense, oil and gas, and agriculture”, Bolsonaro said at the beginning of the meeting with Putin in the Kremlin.
“The meetings are taking place and I am sure that this passage through here is a portrait for the world that (shows that) we can grow together in our bilateral relations”, Bolsonaro pointed out to add: “And I am sure that this meeting will be very productive for our peoples.”.
Sitting next to their interpreters and without wearing a mask, Bolsonaro and Putin gave a quick statement and were friendly before the cameras..
Bolsonaro took the opportunity to thank Putin for the freedom of a Brazilian citizen who was imprisoned for almost two years in Russia for having brought a natural medicine, considered illegal in that country, to the father-in-law of soccer player Fernando, currently in China’s Beijing Guoan and who in that time he played in Russian football.

“I appreciate your act of granting pardons to the Brazilian who was imprisoned in Russia until last year and we are also available”, he stressed.
Before meeting with Putin, Bolsonaro laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow, near the Kremlin wall, dedicated to fallen Soviet fighters during World War II.

This Wednesday, the Brazilian foreign and defense ministers, Carlos França and Braga Netto, respectively, meet with their Russian colleagues, Sergei Lavrov, and Sergei Shoigú.
Before travelling, Bolsonaro stressed that his visit to Moscow has purely commercial objectiveswhich are focused above all on Brazil’s growing need to guarantee the supply of Russian fertilizers for its agriculture.
According to the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, this matter will be discussed with Putin and also with a group of Russian businessmen with whom Bolsonaro and some members of his entourage will also meet in Moscow.
Bolsonaro will be received by the authorities of the Duma (lower house of Parliament).
There is an intense trade relationship between the two countries.with a balance clearly tilted in favor of Russia, which in 2021 exported products worth 5.7 billion dollars to Brazil, of which 60% corresponded to fertilizer operations.
Brazil’s exports to Russia, also last year, totaled 1,590 million dollars and were made up, above all, of food products.
