The high representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrellurged this Saturday in a security forum of Singapore to “continue supporting the Ukrainian Army”since the question is not only “to end the war, but how to do it”.
“If we stop supporting the Ukrainian Army, the war would be over in a couple of weeks. But how? If the response matters, we cannot stop supporting the Ukrainian Army, ”said Borrell during his participation in a panel on regional tensions held today within the framework of the Shangri-La Dialogue (June 2-4).
In what is considered the most important annual security forum in Asia, the Ukrainian Defense Minister, Oleksii Reznikovas well as the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austinand the Chinese Defense Minister, li shang fuaamong more than 550 delegates from some 40 countries.
Borrell insisted that the Ukrainian war “cannot end with the victory of the aggressor”when Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital for the sixth day in a row with cruise missiles and drones yesterday, while the United States claims it has provided Ukraine with everything it needs to start a counteroffensive to the invading country.

The Spanish diplomat also warned that “force and coercion are increasing”, therefore, “as expected, the whole world is expanding its military spending”, especially in Asia.
Thus, he urged “to do more to increase trust” between nations and “defend our principles when they are threatened, whether in Ukraine, South China Sea or any other place”, without directly referring to China.
“At the same time, we want to make sure that the Indo-Pacific continue peaceful”, he remarked, arguing that “Europe and Asia have a direct role in mutual security. We have to work together to avoid a showdown in the region,” she added, amid rising Sino-US tensions.
“The epicenter, the heart of global competition is here, in the Indo-Pacific,” he remarked.
Borrell will be in Singapore from June 3 to 5, where he also plans to meet with authorities from the Asian country, the European External Action Service (EEAS) reported on Friday in a statement.
On the sidelines of the Dialogue, the High Representative will hold bilateral meetings with his Asian counterparts on the sidelines to discuss regional and bilateral issues.

On the agenda will be the strengthening of the EU-Singapore association, relations between the European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and different regional and international security issues, both in Europe and in Asia, specified SEAE .
The Current tensions between the United States and China will dominate discussions at the Sangri-La Dialogue, after Beijing rejected a Washington-proposed meeting of its defense officials.
Among the participants are also the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanesewho will be in charge of the opening speech, or those responsible for the Defense of Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada or Germany.
The European Union has defended its interest in having a greater presence in the Indo-Pacific region, where it sees as vital the maintenance of peace in favor of the prosperity of the area and also of international trade channels.
