Marvel wants Alfonso Cuarón to direct the latest “Avengers” movie

Renowned Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón could be in consideration to direct Marvel’s next superhero installment, titled “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which is expected to mark the close of the successful Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise after the fourth installment released in 2019.

Although there is no official confirmation yet, sources close to the production have expressed strong interest in having Cuarón’s talent for this outstanding franchise.

According to journalist Daniel Ritchman, in a publication on his Twitter account, it was mentioned that the option of Alfonso Cuarón is on the table: «Do you know who I heard they want to direct Secrets Wars? To Alfonso Cuarón (‘Gravity’, ‘Children of Man’)».

However, Cuarón is not the only director on the shortlist.

Film critic Jeff Sneider, on his podcast “The Hot Mic,” suggested that the director of the new “The Avengers” movie would be someone with experience in superhero plots.

Among the names mentioned are Ryan Coogler, director of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”; Jon Favreau, known for “Iron Man”; Jon Watts, who directed “Spider-Man: No Way Home”; and Sam Raimi, who directed “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
