Miami Art Week 2022the week of art that frames Art Basel miami beach, goes far beyond the convention center, peripheral fairs and exhibitions in museums and cultural institutions. The streets are filled —in addition to many people and too many cars— with works. In particular, public facilities stand out, which in 2022 stand out for their quantity and quality.
This juried art competition presented by the The City of Miami Beach and the Convention and Visitors Authority welcomes local artists and invites the public to experience the most iconic hotels as fleeting art destinations in their own right. Now in its third and largest annual edition, Not Vacancy has selected 12 artists to create site-specific works in 12 hotels, including The Avalon, The Betsy, Faena Y Fontainebleau. Miami creators like Brookhart Jonquil, Justin Long, Jessy Nite Y Anthony Wright each received a $10,000 stipend to carry out their project at participating building locations. The facilities will be maintained until December 8, when the winner will be announced.
