He Taiwan Ministry of Defense detected this sunday 24 fighters and five warships of the Chinese Army in the vicinity of the island.
In addition, 12 of the planes entered their airspace, so the Taiwanese Armed Forces monitored the situation and responded by deploying aircraft, boats, and ground-based missile systemsas published by Ministry of Defence on his Twitter account.
The escalation of tensions in the region began with the trip to the island of the then president of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosiin August of last year, and the situation has worsened after the visit of the Taiwanese president, Tsai Ing Wento the North American country, where he met with several US congressmen despite warnings from Beijing.
The island’s leader promised Saturday maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait before the increase in Chinese military pressurestating that “War is not an option.”
Under Tsai’s two terms as president, the self-ruled island has seen the Chinese regime’s air and sea incursions intensify.
The president – who rejects that the island is part of China – said that during her tenure the residents have shown the world “Taiwan’s determination to defend itself.”

“In the face of civilian attacks and military threats from China, the people of Taiwan are calm and non-aggressive, rational and non-provocative”, he stated on Saturday, the last day of his seventh year in office.
“War is not an option, and neither party can unilaterally change the status quo in a non-peaceful way.“, he claimed.
“We will not be provocative, aggressive and definitely not give in under pressure”, he sentenced.
Tsai’s speech comes as Taiwan prepares for its upcoming presidential election, to be held in January 2024. The elections are considered a referendum on the management of the current president.
Due to the limitation of mandates on the island, Tsai, 66, will not run in the elections.
Taiwan has had an independent government since 1949, but China considers the territory under its sovereignty and its fundamental policy towards the island is that of peaceful reunification under the principle of “one country, two systems”.
The Chinese regime has said that any move by Taiwan toward a formal declaration of independence would trigger a rmilitary response.

Peaceful resolution on Taiwan
He G7 reaffirmed this Saturday the importance of “peace and stability” in the Taiwan Strait and asked China for a peaceful resolution of the tensions around the island for the security and prosperity of the international community, in a joint communiqué issued by its leaders.
“There are no changes to our members’ position on Taiwan, including China’s stated policies. We call for a peaceful resolution of the issues in the Taiwan Strait”, indicates the text published on the second day of the summit held these days in the Japanese city of Hiroshima (west).
The final document emphasizes that “there is no legal basis for China’s maritime and expansive claims in the South China Sea” and says that the group’s leaders oppose its military activities in the area.
Despite their common position on China’s military rise and on the situation in Taiwan, the G7 also wanted to reach out to the Asian giant with a message saying that they are prepared to build “constructive and stable” relations with the country. and they pointed out that for this it is essential “to be able to express their concerns directly” to Beijing.
