Nike launches sneakers in honor of Jarritos just when he could disappear

The launch of these sneakers in Mexico will be on May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at a cost of 3,299 pesos.

After PROFECO announced that it will withdraw some soft drinks from the market, including “Jarritos”, Nike confirms the rumors of collaboration between them and the soft drink company.

It was in September 2022 when the images of the design of the next Nike company sneakers were leaked. This collaboration is called “Nike SB x Jarritos” and according to the company’s website, the design is inspired by the history of the soft drink and the jute canvas bags that were used to collect fruit.

Jarritos is a soft drink that was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 1950 and its founder, Francisco ‘El güero’ Hill, was a chemist who began experimenting at home with fresh fruits and carbonated water, that first result gave a bubbly drink with coffee.

He continued with his experiments and the first ‘chesco’ inspired by aguas frescas was born: it was made of tamarind and he called it “Jarritos”. This name was due to the fact that in ancient times the waters were drunk in clay jugs.

Nike ensures that the material used is from Mexico and has citrus colors: orange and green. Each pair will have two customizable insoles with Jarritos flavors and two extra sets of laces.
