at least nonine Palestinian terrorists were killed today during a military incursion ofthe israeli army in the Jenin refugee camp, in what is the deadliest incident with armed confrontations in west bank dwarves.
Israeli forces entered the Jenin refugee camp this morning, epicenter of Palestinian armed resistance in the north of the West Bank, where armed clashes broke out with local militiamen that have also resulted in at least a dozen injuries.
According to an Israeli military spokesman, this morning soldiers and police forces carried out “a joint counterterrorism operation” with the aim of “stopping a terrorist squad” of the Islamist movement Islamic Jihad, with a strong presence in Jenin.
This group would have been involved “in executing and planning multiple major terrorist attacksincluding shooting attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians,” the army said.
As specified, during today’s operation, “the squad opened fire on the Israeli security forces”, after which there was an exchange of fire and “three terrorists were neutralized”.
His forces also fired live ammunition at other armed suspects with those who clashed in the alleys of the refugee camp, added the same source.
In turn, the Army says it is investigating the cases of other deaths registered by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, as is the case of an elderly woman who died in the context of the raid.
Today’s incident is about the deadliest armed clashes in West Bank territory in years. It has also resulted in a twenty injuredfour of whom are in serious condition.
Israeli raids and arrest operations in towns in the West Bank -especially in the north, the main focus of tension- have been almost daily since 2022.
Their raids often result in armed clashes with local terrorist groups, often resulting in fatalities.
