Olaf Scholz vowed to boost ammunition supplies to Ukraine

The German Chancellor, Olaf Schölzpromised this Thursday in a Government statement before Parliament promote measures to achieve a sufficient supply of ammunition to Ukrainein addition to aid in the field of armaments.

“Together with our European partners we will continue to ensure that Ukraine receives enough weapons and equipment to resist. It is especially important that Ukraine soon receives the necessary ammunition, ”he said.

“For this we have closed contracts with the industry. At the European Council we will take further steps to achieve a better and continuous supply”, he added.

In addition Scholz alluded to the tenth sanctions package against Russia and measures to prevent sanctions from being circumvented by resorting to third countries.

In the same context, Scholz recalled that Germany has provided bilateral aid to Ukraine amounting to 14,000 million euros (14,600 million dollars) in the last twelve months.

To this, Scholz said, is added the German contribution to European aid.

Support for Ukraine against Russian aggression, Scholz recalled, includes the reception of Ukrainian refugees for which last year Germany dedicated 3,500 million euros (3,715 million dollars) and this year it has already allocated 2,750 million euros (2,920 million dollars).

On the other hand, recently, Scholz China that refrain from sending weapons to Russia and instead use his influence to pressure Moscow to withdraw its troops from the Ukraine.

“My message to Beijing is clear: use your influence in Moscow to push for the withdrawal of Russian troops and do not supply weapons to the Russian aggressor,” Scholz said in a speech to the Bundestag, the German parliament, two weeks ago.
