Performs Secretariat of Culture Spectacular burning of Judas

As part of the Holy Week activities, hundreds of people from Potosi came to witness various cultural activities on the esplanade of the National Mask Museum

With the aim of continuing to position San Luis Potosí as a cultural destination and to preserve popular traditions, the Government of Change, through the Ministry of Culture (Secult), carried out a spectacular burning of Judas, in addition to offering cultural activities several on the esplanade of the National Mask Museum.

The activities began at 6:00 p.m. with the awarding of the Altares de Dolores Contests, where first place was awarded to Gilberto Vázquez Rangel, second place to Miguel Ángel Gámez López, and third place to Juana María Carrizales Rodríguez. In the Quema de Judas contest, in the Traditional category, first place went to Paulina Gámez Alvarado, an untitled work; second place, to Mabel Zoé Martínez Cárdenas, for her work entitled Who dances to whom?, and third place went to Eduardo Ramos Castro, for his work “La droga de Satana”; and in the Innovation category, first place went to Román Bermúdez Almonaci, for “When home is hell”; Second place went to Norberto Castillo Ramos, for “El feminicida” and third place went to Mireya Guadalupe Bermúdez Hernández, for her work “El vicio del celular”. After the awards ceremony, Mariachi Potosí appeared before the public to delight with hits of vernacular music, encouraging the participation of the public to sing and dance. At 7:30 p.m., the traditional Burning of Judas was carried out, accompanied by the State Government Music Band in front of hundreds of people from Potosi who enjoyed the fireworks. The activities ended with the XXII Meeting of Aztec Dances.

The activities will continue this Sunday, April 9, starting at 7:00 p.m., on the esplanade of the Mask Museum, with the XXVI Son Festival “Doctor Chessani y sus Huapangueros de Rioverde”, and at this same time, at the esplanade of the Ministry of Culture, in front of the Guerrero Garden, will present the La Butak Theater Group.
