He Pope Francisco will preside over the vatican holy week and will celebrate mass “In Coena Domini” on Holy Thursday in juvenile jail Casal del Marmo in Romeafter leaving the hospital today where he has been admitted for bronchitis.

The spokesman of the Holy See, Matteo Bruniconfirmed that the pope will return to this juvenile prison, which he already attended in 2013, the year of his pontifical election, to celebrate this mass with his inmates commemorating the Last Supper of Christ and his apostles.

Francis has normally celebrated this Eucharist in rome prisons and take the opportunity to talk to prisoners and, before your knee problems, kneel before them and wash their feet like Jesus did with his disciples.

This year, according to the spokesperson, the mass will be celebrated “privately” at a time that has yet to be clarified.

Francisco, 86, was discharged this Saturday from the gemelli hospital Rome, where he had been hospitalized since last Wednesday due to a bronchitiscured with antibiotics.

The Pope wanted to be present at the Holy Week rites and tomorrow he will preside over the Palm Sunday in Saint Peter’s Squarealthough the liturgy will be officiated from the altar by the Argentine cardinal Leonardo Sandri.

This is how it will be during all commemorations: the pope will preside over the ceremonies but it will be a cardinal who officiates them (something that was already happening because knee problems prevent him from standing for a long time and he must use a cane or wheelchair).

In fact Bruni said that these provisions had already been applied before his hospitalization for bronchitis.

The formula will also apply on Easter Sundayalthough it is expected that he will impart the blessing “Urbi et Orbi” from the central loggia of Saint Peter’s Basilica and read the message with which he has traditionally reviewed the situation and problems of the world.

At the moment, it is unknown how the Via Crucis on Good Friday will take place in the Roman Colosseum, an act that commemorates the way of Jesus to the Cross and which Francis always attended praying in silence in front of the famous amphitheatre, ending with a prayer or a message before thousands of faithful.
