The liberal democrats earned a net profit of 40 seats.
The results will determine the choice of more than 8,000 seats in 230 town councilsresponsible for the daily provision of public services such as garbage collection and schools.
huw merrimanthe Conservative transport minister, said it had been a “difficult night and it may be more so”.
john curticethe UK’s best-known polling expert, said that based on the results so far, the Conservatives could face a net loss of about 1,000 seatswhich would be in line with the party’s most pessimistic forecasts.
Sunak regretted this Friday the loss of councilors “friends and who work hard” in the municipal by-elections in England but has stressed that his intention is to focus on his government priorities.
“As far as the results are concerned, it is still early, but what I will continue to do is meet people’s priorities: reduce inflation by half, make the economy grow, reduce debt, cut waiting lists (in public services) and stop the arrival of ships (with immigrants through the English Channel)”, stated the conservative leader .
