The diplomatic envoys for nuclear affairs of South Korea, Japan and the US they asked the international community to repatriate the North Korean workers abroad in order to reduce the sending remittances which are used to finance the weapons of mass destruction program of the dictatorship of Kim Jong-un.
The three envoys, the South Korean Kim Gunnthe Japanese Takehiro Funakoshi and the american sung kim issued a statement at the end of their trilateral meeting in Seoul condemning the repeated launches of regime ballistic missiles “as well as his destabilizing and escalating rhetoric related to the use of nuclear weapons”.
The meeting comes just 10 days after North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un inspected tactical nuclear warheads, a type of weapon that in Pyongyang had never exhibited before and that North Korea is committed to improving its short range atomic weapons for potential use against South Korea or neighboring countries like Japan.
In the statement, the three diplomats highlighted “that according to the resolution of the UN Security Council 2397 of 2017 Member States must repatriate all workers from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (official North Korean name) that are generating revenue in their jurisdictions.”

The text “deplores the human rights violation” which supposes the diversion of the income of these workers to finance the nuclear and missile program and affects not only workers who perform physical labor (usually in sectors such as lumber or construction) but also the growing number of North Korean communications engineers winning contracts under false nationalities.
“We are also deeply concerned about the way in which North Korea finances these -weapons- programs through the theft and money launderingas well as the collection of information through malicious cyber activities”, adds the letter.
Only in 2022 it is estimated that North Korea managed to steal cryptocurrencies worth 1.7 billion dollars through his army of hackers.
military exercises
The three allies concluded on Tuesday a series of maneuvers carried out in the vicinity of the korean peninsulashortly after Pyongyang will unveil its new nuclear weaponry, which includes an underwater drone capable of generating a radioactive tsunami.

The drone or guided torpedo, called haeil-1, is equipped with a tactical nuclear warhead identified as Hwasan-31 which, according to the North Korean regime, seeks to enhance its short-range atomic arsenal for possible use on the peninsula and its surroundings.
The exercises were carried out to improve the capabilities of the three countries in responding to “the North Korea’s Increasingly Advanced Undersea Threatsincluding its submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM),” the South Korean Defense Ministry detailed.
