Spain will be the Guest of Honor Country of the FIL Guadalajara 2024

For the 2024 Guadalajara International Book Fair, the event will be led by the presence of Spain.

It was announced in Madrid that the 38th edition of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), to be held from November 30 to December 8, 2024, will have Spain as the Guest of Honor country; according to what was said in the press conference after the signing of the formal agreement, in which Miquel Iceta i Llorens, Minister of Culture and Sports of Spain, were present; José Andrés Torres Mora, president of Acción Cultural Española, and Marisol Schulz Manaut, general director of FIL Guadalajara.

Likewise, in said announcement there was also the presence of María José Gálvez, general director of the Book and Promotion of Reading, and Isabel Izquierdo, director of programming of Acción Cultural Española; It was also announced that the Nicaraguan writer Sergio Ramírez, exiled in Madrid and stripped of his nationality by the government of his country, will be the coordinator of the literary program that Spain will take to Guadalajara next year.

In these terms, Spain was already a FIL Guest of Honor country in 2000 and, twenty-four years later, “we want to show how we have evolved and reaffirm the government’s commitment to supporting the publishing sector and the internationalization of books”, stated Miquel Iceta i Llorens, Minister of Culture and Sports of Spain.
