A total of seven aircraft and three Chinese military ships made incursions in the last hours of this Thursday in areas around taiwanreported the Ministry of Defence of the island, which last Wednesday had announced the detection of other 15 airplanes and four ships coming from China.

The portfolio notified on the social network Twitter that two of the Chinese planes crossed the median line of the Strait of Formosaan unofficial border tacitly respected by Taipei and Beijing in recent decades, but which has been crossed in recent months by chinese forces through these types of breaches.

The expeditions occurred between 06:00 local time on Thursday and 06:00 on Friday.

A su-30 fighter and a reconnaissance aircraft BZK-005 of the Chinese Army were the airplanes that exceeded the median line.

According to the Ministry, the island’s armed forces monitored the situation with combat air and naval patrols and with ground missile systems to scare away the Chinese planes from the Aerial Identification Zone (ADIZ) Taiwan, which is not defined or regulated by any international treaty and is not equivalent to its airspace.

On December 26, Taipei denounced the presence of 71 Chinese aircraft in the vicinity of the island, in an air deployment of an unprecedented scale around Taiwan.

Taipei recently announced that it would extend from 2024 the compulsory military service for men which currently is four months, up to a year, “before the advance of Chinese authoritarianism”, explained the president, Tsai Ing-wen.

Taiwan has been considered a sovereign territory with its own government and political system under the name of the Republic of China since the end of the civil war between nationalists and communists in 1949, but Beijing maintains that it is a rebel province and insists that he return to what he calls a common homeland.

The island is also one of the biggest sources of conflict between China and the United Statesbecause Washington is the main arms supplier from Taiwan and would be his greatest military ally in case of a possible war conflict with Beijing.

The visit to the territory last August by the then Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosideeply irritated the Chinese regime, which responded with Economic sanctions and with the announcement of military maneuvers in the waters around Taiwan, moves that were described by Taipei as “a blockade” and that brought tension in the Strait to levels unheard of in decades.

The retired soldier, with the rank of captain, would have started doing business with China after leaving the Air Force in 2013. Later, according to prosecutors, he would have been recruited to serve as a spy for the Asian giant, thanks to his connections with the Army .

According to the investigations, the captain would have recruited six officers and allegedly received numerous financial rewards through a fictitious company.
