Russia and Belarus They started this Tuesday a “joint training session” of their joint regional forces ahead of maneuvers that both armies will hold in Russia in September, as announced by the Belarusian Ministry of Defenseamid tensions over the invasion of Ukraine.
“The Belarusian Armed Forces They have started today a joint training session of the Joint Command of regional groups”, he said in a statement published through his Telegram account, in which he stressed that “for a week, representatives of the military departments of both states they will work on issues of joint planning on the use of troops based on the experience in armed conflicts in recent years”.
Thus, it has stressed that “these complex measures of joint operational training are intended to increase the compatibility between the military command and control organizations of the two states as a phase of the preparations for joint maneuvers Union Shield 2023which will be held in September 2023 on the territory of Russia”.
Moscow and Minsk want to improve the coordination of their respective forces, although both parties have denied that the Belarusian army will become directly involved in the offensive on Ukraine, despite the fact that the territory of Belarus has already served as a base for operations. Ukraine, in fact, considers Belarus one more party in the conflict and fears that Minsk is looking for some kind of excuse to intervene openly.
For his part, the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenskystressed his intention to reinforce the security of the country with the help of its partners to stop Russia’s intentions to move to a new offensive stage in the war in the spring, as several Western intelligence agencies have been predicting for weeks.

“Ukraine and our partners will do everything necessary to ensure that Russia’s intentions to move to a new stage of the offensive with the aim of revenge fail,” the Ukrainian president said in his evening message to the country’s population.
Zelensky pointed to a coalition of tanks, in which he hopes involve “as many countries as possible”to succeed on the battlefield facing Russia.
A) Yes, stressed the urgency that states that decide to collaborate with Ukraine provide what they can. “Some countries can provide training, some can provide ammunition. We need to work together,” the Ukrainian president remarked.
In this sense, he warned of the danger of Russia’s attempts to achieve success in the war with the help of mercenaries from the private armed group Wagnerwhich is why he urged his allies to supply armed cars.
“Every day they have new batches of staff soldiers, or we see an increase in the number of ‘Wagnerians.’ All this information was processed by our Army. And the request to the partners to strengthen our Armed Forces was based on this information,” Zelensky said.
The president of the NATO Military Committee, Rob Bauer, pointed out on January 19 the possibility that Russia to start a possible full-scale Russian offensive this spring because Moscow’s strategic goals “have not changed”.
“That is the reason why the Russians are likely to go for a next offensive. It’s not something we know for sure. But that’s based on the assumption that if they haven’t changed their strategic objectives, most likely the next thing that happens in the spring is a new offensive”, he reflected after a press conference after the meeting of allied chiefs of the Defense Staff.
For all these reasons, the also admiral of the Dutch Navy insisted on the need for kyiv to prepare for this war scenario, in which requests to the allies to reinforce their military support are framed.
