The legislative committee investigating the January 6, 2021 assault on the United States Capitol recommended this Monday to the Department of Justice that former President Donald Trump (2017-2021) be charged.

The commission considers that the former head of state obstructed official proceedings and incited an insurrection, as well as conspiring to defraud the federal government and making a false statement.

The committee does not have the power to charge or decision-making power in the investigation already opened by the Department of Justice.

Liz Cheney, vice chairwoman of the House panel that investigated the attack, said Monday that Trump’s refusal to stop the storming of the Capitol shows that “He is not fit to hold any position.”

“No one who behaves like this at that time can ever be held in a position of authority in our nation again,” Cheney declared. “He is not fit to hold any position”he emphasized in the final meeting of the panel.
