The parents of madeleine mccann published this Friday a statement on the occasion of the 20th birthday of his daughter, who disappeared in 2007 in Portugal.
“Happy birthday, Madeleine! We love you and we are waiting for you. We will never give up.”, reads the statement published by the family on Facebook. Madeleine was just three years old when she disappeared from her parents’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in May 2007.
“She is still missing, we continue to miss her and we will never give up trying to find her”the text continues, accompanied by a photo of the girl on the fateful trip to Portugal 16 years ago.
According to the British media The MirrorMadeleine’s family will celebrate the birthday today in a small private gathering.
The main suspect in the disappearance of the young British woman is Christian Brueckner, a 45 year old German. Last year he was arrested after being accused of three alleged counts of rape and two of sexual abuse of minors.
These include the rape of a woman between 70 and 80 years old committed between 2000 and 2006, and which he also filmed. The victim, assaulted in her second home, was also whipped.
One month before Madeleine’s disappearance, in April 2007, the Brueckner allegedly ambushed a 10-year-old German girl who was playing on the beach of Salema, in the district of Faro (Portugal), wearing only shoes and, otherwise, naked. He grabbed the girl by the wrist and masturbated, forcing the girl to look at him.
Prosecutors said the investigation into Madeleine McCann’s disappearance continues despite the latest indictment, but did not present any new investigation results in her case.
The investigations continue and the German prosecutor’s office has not yet proceeded to indict Bruekner in the McCann casedisappeared on May 3, 2007 shortly before her fourth birthday in Praia da Luz, a seaside resort in southern Portugal, where her family was on vacation.
The long-running case of McCann, who disappeared just before his fourth birthday, has intrigued Britain for years. Her parents say Madeleine disappeared after leaving her asleep at her holiday resort while they dined with friends at a nearby restaurant.
