The European Union (EU) called “barbaric” the Russian attacks this Sunday in kyiv with drones and on Friday at the Dnipro clinic (central Ukraine), both with civilian victims, and ratified the continental bloc’s commitment to help Ukraine “defend itself.”

“Russia’s barbaric attacks continue, killing and terrorizing civilians: hospital attack in Dnipro, now kyiv”said the spokeswoman for the European External Action Service (EEAS), Nabila Massralion his official Twitter account.

The spokeswoman for the European diplomatic service, which runs Josep Borrell, stressed that the Twenty-seven remain “committed to helping Ukraine defend itself.” And he claimed that Russian leaders and the perpetrators of the attacks “will be held accountable.”

The Kiev authorities reported this Sunday that the Ukrainian capital suffered during the early hours of the morning the largest attack with Russian drones since the start of the invasion by troops from Moscow, which has left at least one person dead and another injured.

The Kiev City Military Administration stated on its Telegram channel that Ukrainian air defenses destroyed more than 40 Iranian-made kamikaze drones in kyiv airspace.

This pronouncement by the EU comes after Russia launched the largest drone attack on Kiev early today, while on the eastern front the regrouping of its troops continued after the start of the withdrawal of the mercenaries of the Wagner Group from the devastated city of Bakhmut.

“It has been the most massive drone attack against the capital since the start of the large-scale invasion,” said the Kiev Military Administration, which is celebrating City Day today.

As reported by the mayor of kyiv, Vitali Klitschkothe first explosions occurred around 01:00 local time, but the drones continued to arrive in waves from various directions throughout the early morning.

At least one person died as a result of the attacks on the capital.

The city of Zhitomir, in the north of the country, was also attacked with drones. where at least 26 residential buildings were damagedbut there were no victims, according to the municipal authorities.

According to the command of the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched a total of 54 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones, of which 52 were shot down by anti-aircraft defenses.

“You are our heroes!” wrote the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenskyin a message to the anti-aircraft defense, firefighters and lifeguards, published on his Telegram channel.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignatstressed that the country’s anti-aircraft defense is getting better every day, although he admitted that more means are needed to obtain a one hundred percent result.

“This could be achieved with F-16 aircraft, which we are waiting for so much,” he said.

For Moscow, the supply of fourth-generation multi-purpose aircraft to Ukraine by the West would be an “unacceptable escalation”, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in statements to Russian state television.

The head of Russian diplomacy added that in the West “there are reasonable people who understand this”, but stressed that “those who are in charge are Washington, London and their satellites within the European Union”, who seek to deal a strategic defeat to Russia, whose territory came under attack again today.
