The FIL opens registration for the Sor Juana Award 2023

Made exclusively for women writers, the Sor Juana Prize of the FIL rewards the best literature written by women.

The Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) has launched the call for the Sor Juana Prize 2023, informed that the registration will remain open until April 30 as the deadline, for writers of any nationality with a novel originally published in Spanish between January 2022 and April 2023.

The Guadalajara fair details that the winning author will be recognized at the traditional award ceremony, which for the 37th edition of the FIL, this 2023, will be held on November 30.

Writers of any nationality may participate in this contest, with a novel originally published in Spanish, whose first edition was printed between January 2022 and April 2023, with a minimum length of 120 pages, and a verifiable minimum print run of one thousand copies.

The works can be presented by any cultural, educational and publishing institution, or by the author herself. Books that have competed in previous editions of the award will not be able to participate.

To compete, it is necessary to send six printed copies of the work to the FIL offices (Alemania 1370, Colonia Moderna, Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, CP 44190), as well as a separate envelope that includes the curriculum and a USB memory with a photograph. in high resolution (in JPG format) of the author, as well as a sheet with the personal data that allows its location.

Only works received from the publication of the call and until April 30, the reception deadline, and those whose postage is dated before April 17 and that arrive before May 13, 2023 will participate.

The jury of the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Literature Award will be made up of three renowned writers or literary critics from the American continent and its decision, which will be held in a special meeting and will be final, will be announced on October 30, 2023.

Any situation not foreseen in the call will be resolved by the Organizing Committee of the FIL Guadalajara.
