The head of the paramilitary group WagnerYevgeny Prigozhin called Tuesday as “lucubrations” Russian reports that he has inflicted massive damage on Ukrainian troops in recent days.

“They are nothing more than lucubrations,” he declared. Prigozhin in a message on Telegram.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed on Monday that it had stopped a Ukrainian offensive and killed 1,500 soldiers and destroyed 100 armored vehicles.

Killing 1,500 soldiers in one day “is quite a massacre,” said Wagner’s chief ironically.

Mocking the Defense Ministry spokesman, Igor Konachenkov, He added: “Why not add up all the figures given by Konachenkov? I think we would have already destroyed the whole of planet Earth five times over.”

Prigozhin said on Monday that Ukrainian forces have made progress in the eastern city of Bakhmutwhich Russia claims to have taken in May.

He claimed that Russian forces were “slowly” leaving the town of Berjivka, near Bakhmut, calling it a “shame”.

Prigozhin has frequently been embroiled in public disputes with the Russian military and has accused Moscow’s military command of not providing him with enough ammunition.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky praised his soldiers on Monday for the gains they say they have made near Bakhmut, the site of one of the war’s most extensive and bloody battles.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces affirmed this Monday that more than 210,000 Russian fighters they have been “liquidated” since the beginning of the invasion, unleashed in February 2022 by order of the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in the framework of the increase in attacks against Russian territory in recent weeks.

He Army General Staff Ukrainian noted in a message on his official account on the social network Facebook that “around 210,350 people have been liquidated”, including 410 during the last 24 hours of fighting, a figure that is far from that recognized up to now by Moscow.

Likewise, Kiev pointed out that since the beginning of the war, 3,848 battle tanks, 3,567 artillery systems, 349 anti-aircraft defense systems, 313 planes, 298 helicopters, 3,189 drones, 1,136 cruise missiles, 18 boats, 6,312 vehicles and fuel tanks and 484 pieces of “special equipment”.

“Russia continues its war of aggression at the cost of suffering great losses,” he specified in his daily operations report, in which he indicated that the Russian forces carried out attacks during the day on Sunday with cruise missiles, drones, bombings and attacks with artillery.

Russia has not provided data on casualties in the conflict since September, when Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, confirmed the death of 5,937 soldiers. The Russian news portal midfielder brings the total number of deaths to 24,470 –including 1,184 during the last 15 days–, figures that it considers “corroborated” through publicly available data, a work carried out together with the television network british BBC.
