The Israeli Air Force carried out a series of bombings in the Gaza Strip, in parallel to ongoing ground operations. According to reports from the Defense Forces (IDF), the targets attacked included Hamas military facilities, a tunnel and various infrastructure.

The Israeli Navy also carried out operations along the Gaza coast, supporting the actions of ground forces. In an incident south of the city of Loopthe IDF reported that a group of four Hamas individuals, armed with explosives, approached Israeli troops, being the target of an airstrike.

Shortly after, another group of four Hamas members was detected and attacked by Israeli aircraft in the same area. Likewise, a vehicle carrying several terrorists and heading towards Israeli troops was the target of an attack.

In another incident, the IDF reported that an Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jet attacked a building in Gaza from which an explosive device had been activated against Israeli troops.

In Beit Lahiya, North of Gaza, troops from the 551st Brigade observed three Hamas individuals entering a building and ordered an airstrike in response.

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahupromised to regain full control of the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, as part of a broader strategy to counter terrorists in Hamas in a conflict that, according to his words, could last for several months.

Netanyahu declared that the conflict is at a critical juncture and emphasized the need for Israel to control the buffer zone in the Philadelphia corridor, which runs along Gaza’s border with Egypt.

“It is imperative to close this area,” Netanyahu said, arguing that any alternative agreement would not ensure the demilitarization that Israel seeks.

During a press conference, the Israeli prime minister reaffirmed that the ongoing military operations will extend for a considerable period.

“The operation against Hamas will continue for many months until its neutralization is achieved and the hostages are released,” Netanyahu assured, pledging to eliminate the threat that, according to him, Gaza represents to Israel.
