Brazil called for urgent protection for children caught in the conflict between Israel and Hamas
The Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvaasked this Wednesday for protection for the “Palestinian and Israeli children”caught in the war between Israel and Hamaswhile his government called a new meeting of the UN Security Council to address the conflict.
“An international humanitarian intervention is urgent. A ceasefire is urgently needed to defend Israeli and Palestinian children”said Lula, in a statement published on the social network X.
Lula assured that children “should never be taken hostage, anywhere in the world.”
“It is necessary for Hamas to release kidnapped Israeli children from their families. “It is necessary for Israel to stop the bombing so that Palestinian children and their mothers leave Gaza,” he added.
The representative of Brazilthe country that currently presides over the UN Security Council, called to join forces with the UN Secretary, Antonio Guterresand the international community to “end the violation of human rights in the Middle East.”
