The Israeli president, Isaac Herzogstated this Monday that Never have so many Jews been murdered in a single day since the in the current war with Hamas, in a speech in which he called on the international community to consider the Islamist movement as terrorist.

Not since the Holocaust have so many Jews been killed in a single day. And not since the Holocaust have we witnessed scenes of Jewish women, children and grandparents – even Holocaust survivors – being packed into trucks and taken into captivity,” Herzog said in a speech released by his office.

“Hamas has imported, adopted and replicated the savagery of the Islamic State. Entering civilian homes on a holy day and murdering entire families in cold blood. Young and old. Raping and burning bodies. Beat and torture their innocent victims,” he added.

Last Saturday, in the middle shabbat (holy day for jews), Hamas – which de facto governs the Gaza Strip – took Israel by surprise with a massive offensive that included the launching of thousands of rockets and the infiltration into Israeli territory of an unknown number of militiamen, who have massacred civilians and kidnapped more of 100 people, apparently to exchange them for Palestinian prisoners.

On the same Saturday, Israel declared a state of war and began a counterattack with air, naval and ground projectiles on the Gaza Strip, as well as the hunt for militiamen in Israeli territory.

The death toll on the Israeli side reached 300 in the first 24 hours of the escalation, a figure that has risen to more than 900. In the Gaza Strip, there are at least 560 dead.

On the other hand, Herzog urged the international community to “clearly and loudly condemn the actions of Hamas just as they condemn the abominable and indescribable actions of ISIS, because today they are the same,” and to designate the entire Hamas apparatus “as a terrorist organization.” ”.

Currently, Israel, the United States – its main partner – and the European Union consider Hamas a terrorist movement.

The day the war broke out, US President Joe Biden condemned “terrorist attacks” against Israel and warned that Washington “will never” stop supporting the Israeli government.

“Let no one in the region who is considering operating against Israel make a mistake. “Israel is a very strong country and will use all its power and force to defend itself and its people,” Herzog stressed, demanding that Hamas guarantee the well-being of the hostages as well as their “immediate return to Israel.”

A spokesman for the Islamist movement assured EFE that there are no negotiations taking place with the Israeli government on a possible exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners, a version that agrees with that of Israel.

Hamas threatened to kill Israeli hostages

The armed wing of the Hamas terrorist group, the Al Qassam Brigades, threatened to begin executing Israeli civilians captives if Israel continues bombing Gaza.

Abu Obaidaa spokesman for the group, said they have been acting in accordance with Islamic instructions in keeping Israeli captives safe and sound, the agency reported. Reuters.

“Any attack against innocent civilians without warning will unfortunately be met with the execution of one of the captives in our custody, and we will be forced to broadcast this execution,” Obaida said, as reported Al Jazeera.

The terrorist clarified that “the execution will be of civilian hostages, not military ones, and will be broadcast online.”
