The shocking image of a woman who survived the Russian bombing in Zaporizhzhia with a cat under the rubble

At least four people died early Thursday morning and five remain missing for a Russian missile attack on an apartment building in the city of Zaporizhzhia, in southeastern Ukraine, according to data released by the Prosecutor’s Office of the region of the same name.

“According to available information, four people have been killed, eight more have been injured and five others, including a child, are missing,” the Zaporizhzhia region prosecutor’s office said.

In repudiation of the attack, Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the Minister of the Interior of Ukraine, published on social networks a shocking image of a woman who survived to this bombardment.

“Kateryna Melnyk spent 5 hours under the rubble in Zaporizhzhia, hugging her cat. Her home was hit by a Russian rocket and was completely destroyed. Kateryna says that she has three cats: one of hers was saved with her and she is still looking for two others ”Gerashchenko reported.

Meanwhile, the secretary of the City Council pointed out that another 31 people have been evacuated and 7 have been hospitalized: 3 of them in critical condition and 4 in serious condition, including a pregnant woman, according to local Ukrainian agencies.

“The enemy hit (with its) missile attacks in #Zaporizhzhia, killed people,” wrote the Ukrainian Police on its Facebook page, which considers the Russian military offensive a new sample of the war crimes committed by the invading forces against civilians.

“Tonight, the military of the Russian Federation carried out another attack on the territory in the center of the (Zaporizhzhia) region. A rocket hit a multi-story building. under the rubble were the residents of the apartments, who were sleeping peacefully when it happened“, accurate.

As a result of the attack on the five-story building, more than ten apartments between the second and fifth floors have been completely destroyed. The debris and the shock wave caused by the explosion also damaged several of the surrounding houses.

Rescuers, volunteers and emergency personnel are on the scene, while the police and other technicians “document the consequences of the war crime committed by the (Russian) occupiers, carry out a study of the area, collect physical evidence of the military aggression”, Added the message from the Police.

In Zaporizhzhia, in the southeast of Ukraine, is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, currently controlled by the Russians and disconnected from the Ukrainian energy system.

Russia unilaterally annexed this Ukrainian region last September along with neighboring Kherson and Donetsk and Lugansk, in the east of the country, despite which the Russian army has not been able to fully control any of the four.
