During the speech this Friday in which he assured that Belarus will go to war “if Russia is attacked”the Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko also launched a racial threat by ensuring that, together with his ally Vladimir Putin, will seek “without fail” to return “our Ukraine to the bosom of our Slavism”.

“We are brother Slavic peoples, from the same baptismal font. Our roots come from the depth of the centuries and we have to take care of that, whatever it takes”, Lukashenko said. “The brotherhood is far above invented grudges and parochial political ambitions.”

He stressed that these indestructible bonds They are the basis for the common security and survival of this brotherhood.

”We will return our Ukraine to the bosom of our Slavism. We will do it without fail.” the Belarusian president emphasized.

According to the Belarusian president, the West is preparing the Ukrainians for aggression and cultivating in them a “hostile attitude towards sister peoples, including the Belarusian”.

For Westhe added, it is important “to drown in blood the Russian-Ukrainian brotherhood, our Slavic brotherhood”.

At the same time, the president wanted to make it clear to the West that, in the event of an attack “there will be hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers” in Belarus.

“I want to answer the West about whether there will be troops on the territory of Belarus. For them, this topic is very important. If our country is attacked, Hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers will be here, who will defend this sacred land with hundreds of thousands of Belarusians.”Lukashenko said.

It is not the first time that the Belarusian presidentPutin’s main ally alludes to the union of the Slavic peoples as opposed to the West.

In December he said in almost every meeting with Putin he talked about Serbiansince that country according to him is “a bastion of the Slavs in the Balkans”.

“I have to tell you that I talk about the Balkans in almost every meeting with President Putin. And who do we have in the Balkans? That’s right, we have Serbia. It has always been a stronghold of the Slavs in the Balkans. Still is”, Lukashenko said in a meeting with the chairman of the friendship group with Belarus of the Serbian Parliament, Dragomir Karić.

In November, in an interview about the migration crisis on the Belarusian border, Lukashenko also referred to supposed qualities of the “Slavs”saying it was “absolutely possible” that his forces would help migrants cross into Poland.

“We are Slavs. We have hearts. Our troops know that immigrants go to Germany.”said to BBC. “Maybe someone helped them. I won’t even investigate this.”

In another display of racism, especially infamous were the comments made by Lukashenko in 2013when he said that then-President Obama surprised him because in the United States “Blacks were slaves.”

“Obama surprises me”said Lukashenko, considered the last dictator of Europe. “Not long ago, blacks in America were slaves, and now they talk about some kind of exceptionalism. I never thought that a person from such a poor (social) stratum could use that kind of rhetoric.”
