The United States Justice refused this Friday to declare to the former President Donald Trump (2017-2021) in contempt, as requested by the Joe Biden Administration.
According to the channels CNN Y nbcwho cited sources familiar with the case, the magistrate of the District of Columbia Beryl Howell ruled against the Executive’s request, which requested to declare Trump in contempt for allegedly failure to respond to a grand jury request.
Instead, Howell put so much pressure on the Trump defense as to Justice Department -on behalf of the United States Government- so that they reach a resolution by mutual agreement.
The grand jury demanded that Trump return in May classified documents from when he was president and that he still maintains in his power, something that the former president would not have done.
Last week, the US Justice annulled the figure of the special expert appointed by a lower body to review the official documents found in the Trump mansion in Florida.
The Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit of the United States thus agreed with the Justice Departmentled by the democrat merrick garlandand that in October he had requested that the order issued by a lower-ranking judge that led to the appointment of the independent expert.
That appointment had been one of the Trump’s greatest judicial achievements in the judicial battle that he is having with the current US Government, in relation to those documents, since the expert was in charge of determining which papers the Executive could access in its investigation and which not.
To date, the expert was reviewing the hundred documents marked as classified that were found among the more than 13,000 that he fbi seized on August 8 during the search of Trump’s residence in sea-a-lake (Florida).
During the search, the FBI found classified and secret documents that Trump allegedly took with him when he left the White House in January 2021.
This Thursday, the United States Department of Justice asked a federal judge to hold former President Donald Trump in contempt for failing to comply with the order to turn over classified documents in his possession, reported CNN.
According to the sources of the newspaper ‘The Washington Post’, the Department of Justice would have asked that it be the trump legal team whoever was declared in contempt.
This measure comes after a team hired by the former president’s lawyers reported on Wednesday that they had found two new documents in a storage unit West Palm BeachFlorida, after conducting searches in four locations.
