The Joint Base Andrewsone of the most important military bases in the country and home of the Air Force Onewas closed due to the presence of an individual armed with a semi-automatic rifle nearby.

The Maryland base was shut down after the person was reportedly seen near the base’s living area, according to the base’s Facebook page, which asked people to stay away from the base.

The note describes that individual as a white person who would carry an AR-15-style rifle “without an orange tip,” which would mean it is a real weapon.

Staff Sergeant Jared Duhon, a base spokesman, said no shots have been fired. There was no immediate report of injuries and additional details were not immediately available.

Joint Base Andrews, just a few miles from Washington, is home to the fleet of blue and white presidential planes.including Air Force One and the “doomsday” 747 aircraft that can serve as the nation’s airborne nuclear command and control centers if necessary.

Last month, an intruder broke into the base and gained access to part of the base’s housing complex. A resident opened fire on the intruder. And in February 2021, a man made his way through the military checkpoint at the facility, then through additional secure fenced areas to gain access to the flight line and board a C-40, which is the military equivalent of the 737 aircraft being flown. used to blow up government officials.

“Mobile and foot patrols of the Security Forces are searching for the suspect,” the Facebook post reported.

The president had no scheduled trip today or yesterday, although he plans to travel to Mississippi tomorrow. The last time Biden was at the base was on Tuesday to travel to North Carolina.
