- In the search for an equitable distribution of activities, from Spain they assure that they will create this application
The secretary of the Spanish organization Ministry of Equality, Ángela Rodríguez, presented before the Committee for the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the draft of an application to measure the time that each person invests in housework with equity.
According to a report by the Spanish newspaper El País, the application has not yet been developed and there are no further details about the project; however, they expect it to be up and running as soon as this summer.
Of the few details, they said that the status of the app is currently in the bidding process to find out which company will be designated to stay with the project.
In this way, the Spanish government will seek in the population “joint responsibility in care and also the effective distribution within the houses”, given that statistically, women spend more time in domestic chores than men.
Likewise, they hope that the application can have other functions, such as distributing the expenses, for example, on a trip, where a common group is created, the expenses are distributed and finally the accounting of what each member must contribute is made.
On the other hand, the Spanish representative called for continuing to adapt current instruments to digital developments and artificial intelligence.
