The F-18 pilot who filmed a famous encounter with a UFO in 2015 known as “gimbal” delivered secret evidence to the United States Congress and explained that initially he thought the flying object was part of a training and set it as an adversary.
In new documents published by The Black Vaulta government repository of UFO-related information, revealed that in 2019 the pilot responsible for the “Gimbal” sighting off the coast near Jacksonville, Florida, provided the US Senate with details about the “unexplained aerial phenomenon”.
The Navy prefers to call the objects seen in the videos ‘unexplained aerial phenomena’ (UAP), rather than the more commonly used ‘unidentified flying object’ (UFO).
The naval pilot who encountered the ‘Gimbal’ told the senators that he initially believed the aircraft to be part of a training exercise and set his sights on it as an adversary.
“Toward the end of one of the (redacted) night flights he was conducting during the period at sea, he and his pilot detected a path of (redacted) air contact coming from the east and heading towards the ship. Initially thinking it might be a simulated advisory plane and part of the COMPTUEX scenario, he took a (redacted) lockdown to investigate further,” the documents say.
“Contact was approximately (redacted) with a stable tracking file, the tow plane determined it was not a ‘false hit,’ and they were able to get a lock through the (redacted) which further indicated the vehicle had a (redacted) crash. clear through (redacted) that the pilot maneuvered the (redacted) to hold (redacted)”, Documents added.
The new documents, heavily redacted and with information still classified, provide more context to additional images and photographs taken by US Navy pilots between mid-2014 and March 2015, who were declassified three years agosparking widespread public interest in the phenomenon.
One of the videos was shot in November 2004; the other two were filmed in January 2015. The three videos were codenamed ‘FLIR1’, ‘Gimbal’ and ‘GoFast’.
In the videos from 2015, Navy pilots can be heard expressing their disbelief. All three UFO videos were captured by Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets.
The videos were made public and published thanks to the efforts of the New York Timesas well as the efforts of To The Stars Academy, which was founded by Tom DeLongethe founder and lead vocalist of the bands Blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves.
Newly released documents also indicate that staff members were very receptive to the account of the events of the pilot.
“The general atmosphere at this meeting was very professional, the professional staff members were really interested in your account of what happened during the aerial vehicle detection at (redacted). They continue to show interest in learning more about this type of detection, and are curious as to which path the Navy intends to take.” the documents say.
Two other naval officers who did not have first-hand encounters with UFOs also offered their insights to members of the Senate.
“In addition, two naval officers from ONI (redacted) also attended this writing. Both have been part of squads based at NAS Oceana. Although they did not offer first-hand accounts of the detection of anomalous aerial vehicles, they were very familiar with the events and the PSM asked them several times about what they observed and what they learned”, adds one of the documents.
In December 2020 it emerged that two Pentagon reports had been produced, providing detailed classified information on strange sightings.
The Department of Defense’s Task Force on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena issued the two classified intelligence “position reports” in 2018 and the summer of 2020and circulated widely in the US intelligence community, according to a detailed report by The Debrief based on interviews with multiple intelligence sources.
The startling contents of the position reports included a leaked photo never before made public, accounts of ‘Unidentified Aerial Phenomena’ (UAP) emerging from the ocean and rising through the sky, and an admission that the extraterrestrial origins of the objects cannot be ruled out.
The leaked photo was captured in 2018 off the East Coast of the United States by a military pilot using his cellphone camera, the sources said.
The photo was previously described as the depiction of an “unidentified” cube-shaped “silver object” hovering over the ocean at an altitude of approximately 30,000 to 35,000 feet.
The image appears to have been captured by the weapons systems operator from the back seat of what appears to be a fighter jet. F/A-18.
Experts were puzzled by the photo, but noted that the object looks a bit like a GPS probean atmospheric profiling device designed to be dropped from an aircraft, usually over a hurricane.
“These revelations are extraordinary and give the public a genuine peek behind the curtain when it comes to how the US government is handling the UFO issue.” said Nick Pope, who investigated UFOs for the UK Ministry of Defence, to Daily Mail.
“What this new information does is confirm that the United States government is taking the UFO phenomenon more seriously than ever before.”he added.
The Pentagon has not confirmed the existence of the two position reports, as well as the authenticity from a leaked cabin photo included in one of the reports.
Even more shocking were the revelations contained in a revised second report that was issued by the Task Force on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in early 2020.
The report delved into the possibility that UAPs could move freely both in the air and under water, crossing the ocean undetected and emerging into the air at incredible speeds.
The report contained a photographextremely clear” of an unidentifiable triangular aircraft that emerged from the ocean in front of an F/A-18 Hornet fighter pilot, the sources told The Debrief.
