The Ukrainian government warned that the world will “drown in chaos” whether the borders can be changed by force, urging the international community to support Ukraine to deter Russia and “other aggressors” from attacking other nations.
This was stated by the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Dimitro Kulebain his speech before the United Nations General Assembly this Wednesday, stressing that, with the support of the world, your country can restore its territorial integrity on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“Against all odds, we were able to stop the much stronger aggressor and drive him out of half of the newly occupied territory,” he said, warning that “No one should be fooled by Russia’s empty calls for negotiations.”
According to Kuleba, Ukraine exercises its “legitimate right” to legitimate defense, enshrined in the UN Charter, and Russia only wants “war, not peace.”

“I know that some still think or even say: ‘We want to be friends with both Ukraine and Russia’ (…) However, in this war there are not two sides: there is an aggressor and a victim”, reiterated the head of Ukrainian diplomacy during his speech.
For this reason, he urged the member states of the UN to side with the Charter of Nations, International Law and the resolutions of the General Assembly of the organization, emphasizing that “never in recent history has the line between the good and the evil has been so clear”.
In this regard, he argued that the Ukrainian troops “do not stand in no man’s land”, and condemned calls for Ukraine to cease fire and hand over arms. “They are very out of place,” Kuleba rebutted these proposals, stating that it is illegal and contrary to the UN Charter to assist “the aggressor”.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister called on UN member countries to support a draft resolution called ‘Principles of the United Nations Charter underlining comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine’.

“I appeal to you: this is a decisive moment to show support, unity and solidarity. This is the moment to show that they defend the Charter”, Kuleba has sentenced.
Belarusian questions
Belarus presented amendments to the draft resolution proposed by Ukraine — which, if approved, has only symbolic value –, assuring that it intends to rectify “certain inaccuracies.”
According to the representative of Belarus, an ally of Moscow in the invasion of Ukraine, in the United Nations General Assembly, saying that Russia has carried out a large-scale invasion of Ukraine “is not in line with reality.”

“If the Russian Federation had not just carried out a special military operation and carried out a ‘full-fledged invasion’ using its full military potential, there would be no country capable of existing after a couple of hours or minutes later,” the Belarusian representative maintained during his speech.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that “the only way to end the conflict” is to start negotiations, stressing that the objective of his amendment is to “include elements for a peaceful settlement.”
Meanwhile, he stressed that “due to the efforts of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in February and March 2022, several rounds of negotiations were organized between Kiev and Moscow”, efforts that would have been broken by the Western supply of weapons to Ukraine.
Therefore, he pointed out that voting in favor of the amendments would be considered as “proof of being really interested in achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine.”
