The law comes at the beginning of what appears to be a long, harsh winter. Looking ahead to this period, the troops have decided to change their strategy and dig in with a view to stopping the Russian advance on all fronts and not losing more territory, especially that recovered during the last summer.

Until now, kyiv had avoided this tactic as it preferred to advance on the ground and clear it of enemy forces with its counteroffensive.
