It was added to the Pueblos Mágicos program in 2018.
This Magical Town has always had a lot to offer its visitors. It is a special place for its bodies of water, and its wooded landscapes.
In Amealco you can do different activities such as camping, mountain biking, hiking, ecotourism and ATV routes.
Its pre-Hispanic cuisine is desired by many; the popular lamb barbecue, carnitas, consommé, muleteer tostadas or turkey mole, a typical Amealcan dish that you find every Tuesday throughout the municipality. Pulque or aguamiel is a typical drink from Amealco. Crystallized fruit and sweet wines are also produced.
The purchase of handicrafts, the artisanal dolls are well known – Intangible Cultural Heritage of Querétaro – created by Otomi women, so much so that they have their Museum of the Doll, here they exhibit these works of art; you can also admire dolls from 18 states of the Republic; there is also pottery and ceramics in clay.
