What you should know about ViX, TelevisaUnivision’s new streaming platform

Televisa Univision Inc., The world’s leading Spanish-language media and content company, today introduced ViX, the first large-scale global streaming service created specifically for the Spanish-speaking world.

Two-tier service ViX and ViX+ it will be implemented in the US, Mexico and Spanish-speaking Latin America. The offer includes more than 50,000 hours of entertainment, sports and news content in Spanish in its first year. There will be all genres, including original series and movies, live sports, live news and current hits from Televisa and Univision, as well as access to an extensive library of content and formats from major franchises from the Televisa vault.

The two-tier service will include a free AVOD product, ViX, to launch on March 31with 100 EPG channels and a rich content VOD experience, and an SVOD option, ViX+, with premium content, including “ViX+ Originals” and exclusive football. It will be released in the second half of 2022. A Beta version of the streaming app is available starting today for select users in the US and Mexico.

The company’s existing transmission options, PrendeTV, Blim TV and the legacy VIX AVOD service acquired in 2021, will be seamlessly incorporated into the new ViX platform in the coming months, ensuring an uninterrupted viewing experience for users.

ViX, the AVOD level:

With ViX, the AVOD tier of the service, users will be able to stream a wide range of full-length entertainment, plus live sports and news at no charge, in the first broadcast-quality ad-supported offering for the Spanish-speaking world, which allows audiences to engage with content that reflects their culture and language. ViX will curate a massive 40,000 hours of content, with more than 100 curated channels of broadcast-quality content and live programming, allowing consumers to easily discover and rediscover their favorites within the familiar interface of an electronic programming guide ( EPG).

ViX+, the SVOD level:

With the SVOD tier of the service, ViX+, consumers will have access to the most premium Spanish-language content ever offered on an SVOD service, with 10,000 hours of programming to enjoy. In the first year alone, the service will premiere more than 50 ViX+ original series and movies representing, on average, at least one new original per week.

ViX+ will feature works developed exclusively by some of the Spanish-speaking master creators and storytellers. TelevisaUnivision announced a new partnership with Salma Hayek Pinault’s Ventanarosa Productions for a 2-year first option contract to produce exclusive films in Spanish. The company had previously announced exclusive first-look deals with 3Pas Studios and Maria Dueñas de Eugenio Derbez and Ben Odell, as well as an original documentary series produced by Selena Gomez, and deals with Propagate’s Mario Vargas Llosa, Santiago Limón and Ben Silverman.

ViX programming includes:

Novels: from classics like “Marimar” and “Rebelde” to mega-hits like “Teresa” and “Amores Verdaderos,” as well as superstars like Thalía, Angelique Boyer, Sebastián Rulli, Gabriel Soto and more.

Movies: High-performing movies and series from major studios like Lionsgate, MGM, and Disney, among others, all available in Spanish.

Channels: Broadcast-quality streaming channels like select “Canal Derbez” with authentic, family-friendly content, “beIN Sports Xtra en Español” channel, and a collection of kids’ channels, including mega-hits “Moonbug Kids” “Cocomelon” and “Blippi”.

Deportes en Vivo: The new “Zona TUDN”, a 24/7 sports news channel, which will become the destination for super fans of all sports, with extended coverage, talk shows, analysis, commentary and exclusive interviews. Exclusive live soccer offer including “Game of the Week” featuring some of the best leagues and tournaments in the world.

Live News: An unparalleled news offering from multiple sources around the world, including the “Noticias Univision 24/7” news channel and live simulcasts with up-to-the-minute coverage of news and events relevant to audiences. Plus new original content, including “Something Personal with Jorge Ramos.” Available at launch, the new show, hosted by the ten-time Emmy Award-winning journalist and best-selling author, will feature intimate conversations with renowned personalities. In addition, ViX will feature a new broadcast channel from one of the most trusted and viewed brands in Latin America: Noticieros Televisa.
