It took Russian authorities less than 24 hours to arrest the woman who carried the bomb that killed Russian blogger Vladlen Tatarsky. And it is that she did little or nothing to hide: she was captured by cameras both inside and outside the cafe where the attack occurred and no attempts to escape the city have been reported. What is known about this woman?

Darya Trepova26 years old and residing in St. PetersburgHe already acknowledged that he participated in the attack. In a short video released by the Russian authorities after his arrest, he said he understood the reason for his arrest: “I would say for being at the scene of the murder of Vladlen Tatarski”.

The brief dialogue, in which she confirms that she brought the figurine that exploded, makes it unclear whether the woman knew the nature of the artifact she gave to the military analyst. To a police officer’s question as to who had given her this bomb, she replies that I would explain it “later”.

Trepova already had a police record that leaves no doubt about his opposition to the invasion ordered by Vladimir Putin. As reported by the agency ratewas detained ten days a year ago for demonstrating against the war, in an unauthorized protest that faced repression by the Russian leader.

According to Russian media, the police located Trepova hours after the explosion thanks to surveillance cameras, although apparently she cut her long blonde hair to change her appearance and did not return to his apartment, which was raided Sunday night.

In its first reaction, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee dismissed the assassination of the blogger as a terrorist attack, and linked the attack to the special services of Ukraine and the Fund for the Fight against Corruption (FBK) of the Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalnyusually a frequent target of the Russian authorities.

According to the committee, Trépova was an “active supporter” of the FBK, although she did not present any evidence in this regard.

A spokeswoman for the Navalny foundation rejected the accusation. “Alexei will soon be tried for extremism. He is facing 35 years. The Kremlin thought: ‘It’s great to be able to add the charge of terrorism,’” Kira Yarmysh said.

On the other hand, there is a clue that links it with the Libertarian Party of Russia. Trepova is married to Dmitry Rylov, a member of that party. However, the movement reported that the woman was never a member of the movement. “We do not have any information to suggest that she ever supported the Libertarian Party,” she added in a statement. Furthermore, they noted that Rylov has been residing abroad and claims not to be implicated in the incident.

The man who was the target of the attack was born in the Donetsk region of Ukraine and fought in 2014 on the pro-Russian side against the kyiv army. Tatarski, whose real name is Maxim Fominhad more than 560,000 subscribers on his Telegram channel.

He rose to fame in September 2022 when, after attending a speech by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin, he assured: “We will defeat them all, we will kill them all, we will rob everyone we want.”

The latest balance of the explosion reported 32 people injured in the explosion, eight of them in serious condition.

The cafe where the attack occurred belongs to the head of the Wagner paramilitary group, Yevgeny Prigozhinwho stated on Telegram on Monday that he had made it available to the organization.

Russia is carrying out a ruthless crackdown on critics of the Kremlin, especially those who denounce the military intervention in Ukraine.
