The alleged perpetrator of the stabbing of several small children this Thursday in a playground in the French city of Annecy is a citizen 31 year old Syrian which was defined as Christian when applying for asylum in Sweden and France.

According to several witnesses, the author began to yelling in English and repeatedly stabbing small children in their strollers in an area with swings and slides in the playground, while some of the adults present tried to stop him.
The Syrian refugee said in English “in the name of Jesus Christ” on two occasions during the attack, according to a video consulted by AFP, a fact that was confirmed by a source close to the case.
Images recorded with a mobile phone disseminated on social networks, but without verification, show the alleged perpetrator dressed in black with sunglasses, a beard and a scarf tied around his head, fleeing with the dagger still in his right hand, while being pursued by several people.
Other images show it when it is already being reduced by several policemen that they hadn’t even removed their motorcycle patrol helmets.
The arrest occurred just four minutes after the stabbings, since the patrol of agents was in the vicinity.
The attack occurred around 0745 GMT in Annecy, a mountain tourism town at the foot of the Alps, specifically in the Garden of Europe, a wide open area of meadows and forests with a lake used for rowing and other activities. of leisure.
“At the moment, there are no elements that can make us believe that there is a terrorist motivation“said the prosecutor Line Bonnet-Mathisat a press conference.
