The Chinese president and leader of the Communist Party of China (CCP), Xi Jinping, asked the top leaders of the formation worry less about personal gain and be exemplary in your convictions in order to maintain the “unified and centralized leadership.”

Xi’s words are part of his last speech before the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the highest body of power in the formation, which met for two days in Beijing to study the history of the party and “exercise self-criticism”, the official media reported this Wednesday.

In his speech, the president asked the members of the Politburo “to worry less about personal gains, lead the demonstration of the firmness of their ideals and convictions and be an example to maintain the authority of the Central Committee and its unified and centralized leadership ”, picks up the state news agency Xinhua.

Xi, secretary of the party’s Central Committee, stated that “The more historical wisdom he accumulates”, “the more initiative he will have to conquer his future” and noted that in the last hundred years “he has been committed to the pursuit of happiness for the Chinese people, the rejuvenation of the nation, the pursuit of progress for humanity and the common good for the world.”

The Chinese president said, during his speech before the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, that it is necessary to make an effort to educate the people to increase their confidence

The CCP, in command of China since 1949, this year commemorated the centenary of its founding and will hold the XX Formation Congress in 2022, in which it is taken for granted that the current ruler will continue his already enormous power, which some are beginning to compare to that accumulated by Mao Zedong.

“This is where the CCP’s historical trust resides and is the source of the party’s confidence in exercising a long-term government in China and in uniting the population and guiding it forward, ”Xi said.

Thus, he urged the leadership to strive to educate “the members of the party and the people, especially the young, to increase its historical confidence and advance with confidence, since the party always maintains its close union with the people ”.

The meeting decided to “strengthen the historical confidence, unity and fighting spirit” of the CCP of its members and reviewed a report on how the mandate to improve the conduct of the Political Bureau was implemented this year.

The prosecution of corruption in official spheres has been one of the pillars of Xi’s policy since he came to power in 2013. Since that year, China has tried more than 1.5 million officials for taking bribesBut some critics have pointed out that it could also be used to end the political careers of some of Xi’s rivals.

The members of the Politburo, according to the official note, unanimously stressed that Xi’s central role in the Party and his proclamation on “socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era” have a “decisive weight to carry forward the historical process of the national rejuvenation ”.

“Historic achievements for the party and the country they were possible fundamentally because Xi has maintained a firm course at the helm and his premise has provided scientific guidance ”, it was established in the conclave, in which it was considered that “the members of the Bureau should lead the defense of the central role of Xi in the Central Committee and the study and implementation of his thought.”

The title “helmsman” and references to “steer the helm” were frequently used to refer to Mao during his tenure, particularly from 1966, when the Cultural Revolution began.

The term fell into disuse especially during the terms of Jiang Zemin (1993-2003) and Hu Jintao (2003-2013), who promoted a more collective leadership style, but it has recovered during the Xi period.
