Acting Israeli Prime Minister Yair LapidHe said this Friday that Israel “not interested in a big conflict” with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Stripbut warned that this scenario “does not generate fear”, after a strong exchange of hostilities that already left ten Palestinians dead.
“Israel will not sit idly by when there are those who try to harm its civilians. This government has a zero tolerance policy for any attempted attack, of any kind, from Gaza into Israeli territory,” Lapid said.
His statements came after a strong Israeli “preventive” offensive against targets of the Palestinian group in Gaza, which responded with the launch of dozens of rockets in what already represents the most serious peak of violence since the war escalation of May 2021.
Hostilities have not yet broken down and continue in both directions, including a new series of Israeli shelling of facilities allegedly used by the Palestinian group to manufacture and launch rockets.

“Today’s actions Loop they were against concrete threats that disrupted the daily routine in southern Israel,” the president added, referring to what military spokesmen described as the imminent threat of an anti-tank missile attack in response to Monday’s arrest of a senior Israeli military official. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in West Bank busy.
Among the ten Palestinians killed so far were at least four members of the YIP, including Taysir al-Jabarinumber two of the group in Gaza and leader of its armed wing in the center and north of the enclave.
According to Lapid, the Israeli offensive also targeted members of “a cell that was preparing to launch an attack” against Israel.
The Israeli Army reported on its Twitter account that 71 rockets were launched from Gaza against its territory, of which 9 fell inside the enclave. Of the remainder, about a third were intercepted.
“Terrorist organizations will not set the agenda in the area adjacent to Gazawe will not tolerate any threat against our civilians,” stressed the acting prime minister, adding that “any attempt to harm civilians or soldiers will be met with a harsh response.”
Lastly, he urged the population to “obey the instructions” regarding security and prevention in the coming days and stressed that “the people of Israel are strong and understand the importance of dissuasion” as a method of preserving calm.
